Over 12 weeks, a 40-page zine was developed to visually and typographically explore four major American conspiracy theories: the JFK assassination, Area 51, QAnon, and the Illuminati. Through experimental layouts, bold imagery, and narrative typography, the zine encourages readers to question official narratives, reflect on the influence of misinformation, and consider the cultural forces that allow these theories to persist.
The project began with an in-depth research phase, examining each conspiracy theory through academic articles, documentaries, news reports, and primary sources. I focused on historical context, key figures, and the psychological appeal behind each belief. By comparing mainstream perspectives with fringe interpretations, I built a balanced understanding of the complexities driving these narratives.
From this foundation, the design phase centered on transforming complex ideas into engaging visual stories. Each theory was given a distinct visual identity, using experimental layouts, layered textures, and symbolic imagery to evoke a sense of mystery, tension, and curiosity throughout the zine.
